Basic Info BioBorn in Brasil, grew up in the USA, now living in Scotland where I hope to stay forever. Having finished my Ph.D. in 2008, I am currently a post-doctoral research fellow in neurobiology at the University of St. Andrews. I live in Fife with my wonderful partner Gary.
I have a tendency to fancy grumpy British men, British actors who play grumpy characters (for example, Colin Firth as Darcy, Hugh Laurie as House), Scottish rugby players, well, you get the idea. My love of most things Scottish (I exclude Irn Bru, Old Firm teams, Glasgow and its environs) is second only to my love of my native Brasil and of course, its football! It's safer to stay away during World Cups, and one can often find me waxing lyrical about one or another aspect of Brasilian culture and food. As for America... well, I lived there for a long time and I benefited from many aspects of the educational system, but my patriotism is more for Skyline Chili than for the country.
Other interests include grammar (yes, I love it, and yes I will smack you if you say 'Where is it at?' or 'Between you and I' *twitch*), punctuation (no, you don't have book's for sale), playing video and computer games from the 80s and early 90s (anyone remember Monkey Island or Final Fantasy II?), knitting and crocheting, travelling and salt. I'm a bit of a wine snob, and in my new world order there will be no pink wine.
This journal is friends-only, please comment on the public post to be added. A fair warning though: I am a woman of strong opinions and even stronger language used to express them. If you take offence easily, reading my journal may be hazardous to your health. I use it to vent anger (especially related to sport) with all the delicacy of a sailor and level-headed reason of a lunatic. Such posts are not to be taken seriously, nor are they to be mocked or used as a platform for reasoned argument. Follow these simple rules and everyone is happy :)
